Voices of Triumph: SUPBIKERUN South Wales 25 Shines in Pembrokeshire
The stunning shores of Llys-y-frân reservoir recently played host to our South Wales 25 event, where participants took on the unique challenge of stand-up paddleboarding, mountain biking, road cycling, and trail running through Pembrokeshire’s breathtaking landscapes. The verdict is in—and our participants couldn’t be more enthusiastic about their experience!
A Triathlon Like No Other
“Brilliant weekend put on by SUPBIKERUN,” shares one participant, highlighting what makes our events special: “Love this variation on the triathlon theme and would definitely recommend this as a really relaxed and friendly race event for all.”
This sentiment was echoed by first-timer Dale Duffy: “This was my first ever triathlon and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The event was really well coordinated, registration was the day before and took minutes which allowed for a recce of the venue before having a relaxing day.”

Something for Everyone
What sets SUPBIKERUN apart is our commitment to inclusivity while maintaining a genuine challenge. Karen Ross, a returning participant who completed her third SUPBIKERUN event, notes: “The different entry choices in terms of short or long distance, and mountain or road bike, really do mean there is an option for everyone.”
Elle Cantillon, who has participated in both our Lake District and Llys-y-frân events, adds: “Super beginner friendly in that you don’t have to have ever raced before to enjoy this. The staggered starts and different distances mean you don’t feel overwhelmed at any point.”
Beyond the Race: A Complete Weekend Experience
Our events offer more than just race day excitement. The Saturday pre-event activities received particular praise:
“With SUP yoga and SUP skills classes put on the Saturday and a well-organized race on the Sunday,” one reviewer commented, appreciating the comprehensive weekend experience.
Ralph Gilling highlighted how our new relay option made participation possible despite injury: “I’m just coming back from injury and one of my teammates can’t run too far at the moment, so was gutted we couldn’t do it this year—but then you added the relay to your programme that we participated in, so thank you!”

A Supportive Community
The SUPBIKERUN atmosphere continues to be one of our most celebrated features. Participants consistently mention the encouragement they received throughout the course:
“Lots of participants, marshals and other supporters provided encouragement which made it a really lovely atmosphere and I felt really proud crossing the finish line!” shares Dale.
Jayne Angell’s “Girls on Tour” review highlighted the “friendly motivational staff and volunteers” and the “pre-training sessions run by qualified coaches” that helped prepare them for the weekend.
Challenging Yet Rewarding
While our events are accessible, they still offer a genuine challenge that participants relish:
“You definitely need a decent degree of fitness, though, and both the bike and run courses have evil uphill sections!” Elle warns with enthusiasm.
The Pembrokeshire course in particular received praise for its challenging elements: “Mountain bike course was challenging, the run was full of hills,” notes Jayne, while still giving the overall experience five stars.

Looking Ahead to 2026
With the South Wales 25 event now in the books, many participants are already looking forward to their next SUPBIKERUN adventure. As Karen Ross puts it: “Looking forward to Dorset in 2 week’s time!”
